Other Interests

This section is reserved for some of my interests which I can't think of enough to write about to put them into their own sections.

I am a big fan of J.R.R. Tolkien, having several editions of both The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, which I like to read regularly. Most of my other favourite authors are British as well, namely Douglas Adams (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the Dirk Gently novels), J.K. Rowling (the Harry Potter series), Terry Pratchett (the Discworld novels) and William Shakespeare.

My interest in film music led to a general interest in films (unlike many others, I knew the music for films like Star Wars long before actually seeing the films). The horrible custom of dubbing foreign films for German audiences, and the frequent use of pan & scan on TV, quickly convinced me to build my own DVD collection, which currently consists of about one hundred DVDs. Favourite directors include Kenneth Branagh, David Fincher, Alfred Hitchcock and Peter Jackson.

Video games

I used to play lots of video games back on the C64 and Amiga. These days I rarely find the time to play a game for a long enough time to get familiar with it, and I also find that most newer games lack originality and fun. I still like to play the old C64 games occasionally, thanks to the VICE emulator. I also play the browser games Hattrick (though aside from that I don't care for football at all) and World of Dungeons (in German only).

I also enjoy writing my own video games. You can find these in the Projects section.
